In January 2011, Life On Point Consultants became a signatory of the International Code of Conduct (ICoC) for Private Security Service Providers. This collaborative effort aims to set global standards for the private security industry and to establish independent mechanisms for effective governance and oversight.
The ICoC is the result of a multi-stakeholder initiative coordinated by private security companies, industry associations, civil society, and individual business leaders with the assistance of the Government of Switzerland and in consultation with the governments of the United Kingdom and the United States.
This initiative has been widely hailed as a landmark agreement and praised by governments and human rights groups alike. By becoming a signatory, Life On Point agrees to adhere to the terms of the ICoC. We pledge to respect human rights and to fulfill humanitarian responsibilities towards all those affected by our business activities. It will also give Life On Point the chance to contribute to future policy by working with the ICoC steering committee and working group on Maritime Security Operations.
Life On Point President and CEO Mr. Brian Hayes states that “the International Code of Conduct sets and monitors standard operating procedures and practices for the industry. More importantly, it provides peace of mind for ship owners and shareholders, allowing them to employ legal, reputable and strictly governed security practitioners.” Hayes went on to state that Life On Point will, “champion efforts to ensure that the Code gains worldwide acceptance and becomes an integral part of how the industry operates, and how governments and clients select security providers through transparency, oversight, and accountability – all of which are hallmarks of the Code.”
